The Island 2023 Recap!

Heya' Fellys!

2023 has been an amazing year, mostly because of the completely new gameplay experience!

To start off the year on January 3rd, 2023, the huge update was released after being in beta since December 15th, 2022. This allowed The Island to have more minigames, better interactions, character dialogue, preference options, themes, and much more!

At the end of this blog post, I will gladly share some plans for 2024, as well as completely game-changing information.

Now, let's look back at each month of 2023!

January

To take advantage of the newest features, the brand new Island-Con event was held! Fellys were able talk with several mascots, and get their autographs! A new quest was introduced before the party, where you could help Piason take a picture of the Sea Monster, where she would later show it off at Island-Con! Zachary shared his knowledge of the newly discovered Lime Crab, Steve Sailor returned (On a TV screen) at the Marina, and Fellys could play Quizfest at the Beacon Bay with Yesterfesterfitz!

Several new rooms also opened this month, such as the River Park, Pier, Bowling Alley, and the Peninsula!

February

Fellys had quite the adventure in February! Several new wild rooms opened at the Crab Party, where you can adopt the Lime Crab, or visit the mysterious Rock House, home to a Cyclops from prehistoric times!

Blade also introduced the Crab Oats Machine at the Restaurant, so you can now feed your Crabs at the Restaurant! The Crab Party was also in full swing, as stated above, celebrating the brand new Lime Crab!

On the day of The Island's 12th anniversary on February 28th, a new Token Fishing minigame was introduced, as well as a renovated Park!

March

March was the month of luck! To celebrate Stan Zavior's birthday, a small party for him was hosted around The Island, including a parade just for him, starting at the newly opened River Park!

At the River Park, Fellys could enjoy extra luck with the new Token Fishing minigame, where you had a much higher chance of winning tokens!

April

In what is usually one of the biggest months of the year for The Island, April definitely did not disappoint in 2023!

First, Fellys that loved going on scavenger hunts instantly fell in love with the month as Crystal Seashells made their debut, a new almost-weekly activity where if you find it, you get tokens each time it's in a new spot!

Keeping the scavenger hunt spirit going, not only did Crystal Seashells debut, but a temporary egg hunt event was also held to celebrate Goppers! Completing the egg hunt would award the Felly with a pastel Gopper costume!

A week after the Egg Hunt, Fellys could once again play Hockey, this time it is permanently in the brand new Hockey Rink room!

Dusk had been planning something for a while- A crazy storm that'd destroy our island! Luckily, Blade helped us lift The Island to the sky to avoid the storm as we celebrated the first Sky Festival since 2019!

On top of all this, Salaman officially announced Karate: Cloud, with a brand new Cloud Dojo opening in April, however, the game will not be playable until the time is right.

May

May was a month that Harlan will never forget! He got to host his very own party, AND introduce 4 new rooms for all Fellys!

May saw the first camp related event since September 2011, as Harlan hosted the Island Camping Festival! During the party, Fellys could play tetherball, participate in an art contest, zipline down from the Cliff to the Shopping Plaza, and more!

Later in May, the long-awaited and much-requested Day/Night cycle was added, making The Island go from day and night each day!

June

The Bend Band once again performed island-wide at this year's Island Jam, with brand new content all over The Island!

Beatz performed at the Arcade, orchestra was played at the Crab Capital, jazz was played the Restaurant... The entire island was loud!

July

Summer made quite the entrance this year. In July, Blade had noticed that the temps would reach super high numbers, and sure enough, he was right! He organized the first ever Heat Wave Festival, where temp records were broken on July 25th, when temps reached up to 113 °F! That's crazy!

During the party, Fellys used Blade's new Submarine to search for Dolphins and study them, where they'd eventually be kept safe around the Dolphin Coast, which opened in August!

August

As mentioned above, the Dolphin Coast opened on August 1st! Fellys can grab a ticket to see Lulu and Sparkle perform at the Dolphin Show!

Various other quality of life improvements happened this month, such as Cloud Flowers now being collectable, new looks for UIs, and more!

September

Team Jungle or Team Desert? Visit your base and plan out your gameplan for the Patuna Gem Quest! A party that Blade once again organized, Fellys could join a team and race the other to see who could find the ultra rare Patuna Gem for Blade first! Team Desert discovered the gem first on September 26th!

October

Spooky season was upon us on The Island, featuring brand new decor, new items, and even a ghost hunt! That's right, Fellys could hunt for ghosts and earn the Ghost Hunting Shirt when all ghosts were found! A pumpkin carving minigame was also added later in the party.

November

Oh no! Blade lost his memory! Fellys had to remind him about his most iconic contributions to The Island, and then fix his invention, which we discovered to have been destroyed by Dusk, who escaped his cell again!

Luckily, Fellys are smart and defeated Dusk once again, and saved Blade's memory, all with repair skills!

Later on in the month, to thank us for our help, Blade allowed us to enter the Music Machine Room, the 138th room on The Island!

December

Merry Island! Fellys once again celebrated the holiday season, ending 2023 off with an epic, snowy, festive, nostalgic party! Gifts at the Beacon Bay, bell ringing at the River Park, caroling, and much more!

What's Next?

It's the end of the blog post! As promised, I wanted to give a little preview as to what's coming in 2024 for The Island.

In January, Fellys can continue their snowy activities with the long-awaited return of the Mountain Climb event, mixed with the Ski Resort Party from November 2022, where you will get another chance to race Yesterfesterfitz down the mountain for the rare Yesterfester Snowboard!

In February, Zachary will showcase his plans for a brand new huge project. But before this can be done, we must go on an expedition to another island to collect new supplies relating to this upcoming project!

When March comes around, The Island goes green for Stan Zavior, expect another birthday party for him this month!

In Spring and beyond, The Island will receive its huge "Makeover Update"- Construction workers & Blade have been hard at work at making The Island's outdoor & indoor rooms a better experience, and are happy to announce that many outdoor & indoor rooms will be completely changed, allowing room for new areas, new activities, and much more. The Dance Club will be torn down in favor of a Tropical Beach Party to match the Island feel more, the Pet Park and Aquarium will be replaced with new rooms, etc... Expect new rooms like the Islander Lounge, a Hall of Mascots, the Tiki Fort, Hermit Crab Lagoon, Patuna Ruins, the Play Stage, and PLENTY more. With this update, parties will become less common. Later on, we will see Steve Sailor's return, as he invites us to his island and a ride on the new & improved Felly Cruise.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed 2023 and are excited for what's next on The Island!
