Island Throwback: Karate Water!

Heya' Fellys!

April's forecast shows rain coming later in the month. To celebrate, we're throwing a Sky Festival! What does this have to do with Karate Water, or Karate in general? Maybe time will tell, but today we are going to look back at Karate Water's history!

It all started way back in late 2011! That's right, LATE 2011, not 2012! A work in progress drawing was posted of how I wanted the Karate Water Dojo to look like, being this:

This was drawn in December 2011, and unfortunately, only the small preview exists, not the whole room. As you can see, though, it looked a lot like an aquarium, and had platforms over water you could stand on! I don't remember how I planned the game to play out back then, but I do know that it was somewhat similar to how it is today! Enemies were an idea back then, too.

Over the next few months, Karate Water was a huge speculation, and was the talk of the island! Is Karate Water going to be a thing? How will the game be played? What will the Dojo look like? Nowadays, there is still chatter of new Karate element games like lava, ice, and cloud. If there is anything Salaman has been telling us REPEATEDLY to do, it is to be patient, though, it is understandably hard to not lose patience when you've been waiting for a new Karate Element game since January 2016- Over 7 years! Salaman sure is good at patience.

Anyways, on July 17th, 2012, before the Festival of Fire (The element game that came before water), a video was posted to the old TI YouTube channel, which I had meant to use it to tease Karate Water:

It wouldn't be all the way until November 24th, 2012, where a picture of Salaman was posted. In the picture, he is standing next to water, and it says "IT'S COMING."

This pretty much confirmed Karate Water!

However, in typical Salaman fashion, you would have to wait a few more months for it to be officially ready.

In March 2013, the Karate Water Dojo was officially ready to be "open", but would still be under construction.

115 days later, Karate: Water was released for all!

2,635 days after Karate Snow, so far the last Element game released, there is still no word on any new Karate game. We could be waiting months, years longer for it, who knows? Once again, Salaman tells us...

"Be patient."

Thanks for reading!
