Happy 14th Anniversary, The Island!

Heya' Islanders!

Today, February 28th, is when The Island was officially created, FOURTEEN years ago! Can you believe it???

The Island first started as a simple project of mine that I didn't think was going to last too long, due to it only being chat backgrounds and such with periodic decor. I thought others would see it and go "Oh cool!" for maybe a week or two and then never come back. Boy, was I wrong.

What started out as a little Pet Store room turned into an island with 100+ locations in the span of 14 years. At first, TI started because I loved drawing, decorating, as well as nature. I thought, "Oh, I can draw this room background and decorate it for little parties and events, that'll be fun!", by early March, the rooms expanded, with what we know now as the Island Central, Arcade, Reef's Diner, etc.

People kept coming back, friends were made, a good chunk of those friends are still in the community today, which I feel is what really kept The Island going this long, dedication from me, and dedication from the friends that have never, EVER left.

This may be The Island's last anniversary party being celebrated on the game itself, but the future ahead is exciting, and technically, The Island is going nowhere anytime soon. With the release of Destination Island on June 10th, the complete refresh of the game will keep it alive for some years to come, and who knows what happens beyond that.
