Heya' Fellys!
The new year is just around the corner, and I wanted to update you all as to why there has not been too many updates lately. I mentioned a Pier, fishing minigame, River Park, and surfing would be coming in Summer of 2022. Obviously, that never happened, mostly because I've been so busy working on and brainstorming a lot of things for 2023. I sort of want a fresh start for TI in January, with lots of much needed changes coming the first week of that month.
Now that you know why some things are delayed until January, I can now tell you more about what's coming in January to kick the new year off the right way!
Sounds!
One of the biggest updates in 2022 has been the addition of sound effects for The Island. No longer is it quiet when you open the map and hover over a room, or hovering over buttons, or opening an interface to a catalog. In January 2023, I want to add more variety of sounds, including more interactive objects, which I will talk about last as it is the biggest change that is coming.
Mascot Revamp!
Mascots will be revamped in January 2023. There will be plenty of new ones, and more chances to "meet" them! Every now and then, one will appear in a room and need you to do a task for them, depending on the party or time of year, or it'll be something completely random. For example, Salaman might want you to head to the Dojo because a ninja might be getting into some trouble, so you have to find a way to calm them down.
New name for Fellys & more customization!
The main character of The Island has been called a "Felly" since 2011. I still haven't decided a new name, but there will be one starting in January 2023! As far as "more customization", I'm talking about some presets for clothing that you can dress your character as.
Revamped Chatting!
The Island has been using the same chat day 1, and there have been better options available for a while now, but I never got around to getting any to work. I've finally found a much better option that you will be seeing January 2023! You will select from a site member to chat with (There can be more than 2 in one chat), and start a group chat with them, and this will appear in all rooms, of course.
The Biggest Change!
Okay. So, the thing I've been busy with the most is... An entirely new experience for The Island! No, not a new mission, I'm talking about fully interactive things, a bigger screen, tasks, an in-game UI, and MUCH more! Rooms will of course look the same as they do before the update and the same rooms will be available, but the overall experience of The Island will be much better than clicking buttons and having a chat overlay the image of the room. You will be able to click on certain objects, talk to Fellys depending on the week/time of year, etc. It's a much needed change that is needed for a new and refreshing experience for The Island! It will take place on an entirely new website specifically made for the rooms, and will require a new account to be made. This huge change is coming January 2023, so stay tuned for more information!
What about old TI?
The Island the way it is now will still be accessible via this site after January 2023, and will be known as "The Island Classic", don't worry!
